Victoria Downtown Bed and Breakfast is ideally suited for a small and elegant wedding, just like ours on June 20, 2003 - just 10 days after the Ontario Court of Appeals redefined marriage as a union of any two persons to the exclusion of all others.

Since that day, British Columbia and Victoria in particular has become a popular destination for same-sex marriages, providing couples the right to solemnize, and legalize, their marriage, and VDBAB has the experience to help you with all the details. Special Guests

We have a guestroom capacity of eight persons, in four rooms, one of them with twin beds - the others with queen beds:

The Penthouse Suite -- the perfect Honeymoon Suite -- is a truly beautiful oversized room with private walkout deck overlooking the city, and stocked with luxurious amenities, including bar fridge, coffee/tea/hot chocolate equipment, luxurious spa robes, large 5-pc en suite bath with skylight and large soaker tub (and shower), TV/VCR/DVD. A dozen roses included.
The other three rooms are all on the second floor, and would share one full 4-pc bathroom among them, "to the exclusion of all others." Luxury robes provided. Fresh flowers.
The James Bay Room has a queen bed, bar fridge, coffee/etc equipment, bright bay window, TV/DVD.
The Fairfield Room has a queen bed, TV/VCR/DVD, coffee/tea/etc equipment (no bar fridge).
The Ocean Room has two adult-quality twin beds, coffee-etc equipment (VCPlayer, no bar fridge, no TV).

Room rates are listed here. There would be a two-night minimum on at least the Penthouse Suite.

The licence

You can get your licence from City Hall the work day before; there is no waiting, no blood test, and no residency requirement. We can help sort out the details and discuss the requirements. An escort to City Hall is included in our Wedding Packages. You may download your British Columbia Marriage Licence application here and complete it in advance, if you wish.

The Ceremony

The ceremony will take place in our home, or any other location you may have arranged alternatively. We are pleased to recommend an Officiant.

Elegant Reception

If you are reserving the Whole House, we would be delighted to orchestrate your evening reception for up to 50 guests, with buffet food presentation, glassware and dishes, coffee and tea, and service all included. The food, in fact, is such an important part of your wedding reception, that we have a special page devoted to it. Warning: do not look at this page if you are hungry.

Because of our usual "no unregistered guests" policy, we cannot host an evening reception unless you have reserved all guest rooms.

For smaller afternoon affairs, perhaps following a ceremony in our home, a champagne and cake reception can be arranged for up to 12 guests. Ask for details.

Photography

We'll take several candid shots and assemble a web page to share with family and friends. We are also pleased to recommend the professional services of a wedding photographer. Please ask for details.

Limousine Service

Limousine service to drive you and your group to the wedding ceremony and back is available, if desired.

Flowers? Cake? Favours?

Flowers, wedding cake, wedding favours - anything else - let us know and we'll take care of it all, and all on one surprisingly low bill.
